Happiness vs Income Paradox
“വരുമാനം കൂടി കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ എല്ലാം ശരിയാകും” എന്ന വിശ്വാസം എവിടെയാണ് തകരുന്നത്?
നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ സാധാരണയായി നടക്കുന്നൊരു കാര്യമാണ്:
“ഇനി ശമ്പളം കുറച്ച് കൂടി വന്നാൽ ഞാൻ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ ജീവിക്കും.”
ശമ്പളം വരുന്നു.
പക്ഷേ സന്തോഷം?
അതേ സ്ഥലത്തുതന്നെ.
വരുമാനം കൂടിയാലും സന്തോഷം എന്തുകൊണ്ട് കൂടുന്നില്ല?
തുടക്കത്തിൽ പണം സഹായിക്കും.
- അടിസ്ഥാന ആവശ്യങ്ങൾ നിറവേറ്റുന്നു
- സുരക്ഷയുടെ തോന്നൽ നൽകുന്നു
- ചില സമ്മർദ്ദങ്ങൾ കുറയുന്നു
പക്ഷേ ഒരു പരിധിക്ക് ശേഷം ഗ്രാഫ് flat ആകുന്നു.
Income ↑ Expectations ↑ Comparison ↑ Happiness ↔
Hedonic Adaptation – മനസ്സ് ഒത്തുചേരുന്ന രീതി
മനുഷ്യ മനസ്സ് luxury-ലേക്ക് വളരെ വേഗം ഒത്തുചേരും.
പുതിയ കാർ → സാധാരം
വലിയ വീട് → routine
കൂടിയ ശമ്പളം → baseline
ഇന്നത്തെ luxury നാളെയുടെ necessity ആകുന്നു.
അതുകൊണ്ട് സന്തോഷം എപ്പോഴും മുന്നോട്ട് നീങ്ങുന്നു.
Comparison – സന്തോഷത്തിന്റെ നിശബ്ദ കള്ളൻ
ഇന്ന് നാം നമ്മുടെ വരുമാനം ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് അനുഭവിക്കുന്നില്ല.
Social media ഓരോ ദിവസവും താരതമ്യം കൂട്ടുന്നു.
- “അവൻ ഇതൊക്കെ വാങ്ങിയല്ലോ”
- “അവർ മുന്നിലാണ്”
- “ഞാൻ പിന്നിലാണോ?”
Income absolute അല്ല — relative ആയി മാറുന്നു.
ബുദ്ധിമാന്മാർക്ക് ഇവിടെ കുടുക്കപ്പെടുന്നത് എന്തുകൊണ്ട്?
ബുദ്ധിയുള്ളവർ ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെ numbers-ൽ അളക്കുന്നു.
Salary, package, net-worth — എല്ലാം measurable.
പക്ഷേ സന്തോഷവും ശാന്തിയും numbers അല്ല.
ശരിയായ ചോദ്യം
“എത്ര സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നു?” എന്നതല്ല.
“ഈ പണം എന്റെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ എന്ത് മാറ്റം കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു?” ഇതാണ് ചോദ്യം.
Money options നൽകും. Meaning നൽകില്ല.

സൃഷ്ടിക്കില്ല.
പക്ഷേ
സന്തോഷത്തിന്
ഇടം
സൃഷ്ടിക്കും —
നിങ്ങൾ അതിനെ
എങ്ങനെ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നുവെന്നതിനെ ആശ്രയിച്ച്.
വരുമാനം കൂട്ടുന്നത് പ്രധാനമാണ്. സന്തോഷം പിന്നിലേക്ക് മാറ്റാതിരിക്കുക അതിലും പ്രധാനമാണ്.
